    June 3, 2011 by jstevenson

What is the most durable faucet?
Brass is the best metal to make faucets from. Most of the highest quality faucets are made from solid brass.
Compression valve faucets – These have a screw type mechanism with rubber washers to stop the flow of water. These faucets wear easily and require more maintenance than the other types of faucets.
Ball valves – Single handled faucets use these valves to mix the hot and cold water.
Cartridge valve – These have two “sleeves” that fit into each other to restrict the flow of water. They have seals that can wear out and need replacement.
Ceramic disc faucet valves – The 2 ceramic discs control the flow of water. These are the most durable and longest lasting types of faucets.
